In the same room with say a bunch of superiors, the self-conscious may worry about coming across as arrogant and the self-centered may read it as a chance to push their case. The reading is affected by the lens through which you see things. And that actually leaves open reading the room. That comes with active listening. It is a subtractive skill--to see things for what they are and through others' lenses, take yourself out of the equation. In coach training, this is emphasized again and again. Great question!
I am going to remember this for "Me-High Chick-Sent-Me-High"
Jokes apart... do you see any impact of our ability to "read the room" play a role in how do we behave? Or that is an after effect?
